Nessun Dorma

''Nessun Dorma'', from the Opera ''Turadot'', was Giacomo Puccini's last work. Here are two versions that are both wonderfully performed.

Jose Cura - A handsome tenor who has a very beautiful voice and is worthy of praise for his performance.

And Luciano Pavarotti - His voice and delivery...by all rights, this song belonged to him, for no one could give it the fervor and passion he gave it. There will be no other tenor who shall exist like Maestro Luciano Pavarotti. A legend gone too soon, he is sadly and greatly missed by the world.

I like to watch Youtube videos of First time reactions, of Rappers and Singers reacting to the Pav's Performance. And get blown away by him.
@Thevy29

Me too :)

But these old guys take the cake.

@rinkydinkydoink I like these guys, they're so sweet. Have you seen the one where they react to Whitney Houston's "I will always love you"?
@Thevy29

I especially like the guy who reacts the least - the magnificently bearded elder.

Yep (about Whitney) - but, you know, I think I'll watch it again.
@Thevy29 @rinkydinkydoink

Like both of you, I also like watching YouTube videos of first-time reactions from music lovers (vocal coaches and fans). Yes, everyone gets blown away, I personally get goosebumps listening to him sing the first note until the last. I can say with complete certainty that it is impossible to find a single, negative reaction to Pavarotti's performances and talent.

I have. He was beyond his best even in Rome 1990 (too old) and because of that I've seen comments saying his age had made his voice heavy and less melodic. There's a 1955 Mario Lanza video that some may actually prefer to any of Pavarotti's ND vids. It's worth a listen...

Thank you so much for sharing this video of these wise men whose opinions are purely sincere and accurate. I quote one of them saying, ''I think he's singing something very painful. You can totally feel it in his voice. It's just like when someone wants to share their stories filled with pain and sorrow.'' Indeed. Pavarotti singing ''Nessun Dorma'' is the embodiment of a lover pained at a possible outcome ( his lover never guessing his name which could lead to his death), it is both bittersweet and yet full of hope for a victory he greatly desires. Pavarotti sang from his heart and with all of his might, detrimental to his health or not, he gave all of himself, never once giving less. One of them said, '' I pray to God to bless his soul in heaven.'' I do as well, he is surely joining his singing with that of angels, his voice that was nothing less than heavenly itself.

I loved the reactions and musical analysis of these men. It's a fine example of music transcending different cultures and proving music is universal, touching everyone's hearts. Again, thank you for sharing it, it's a perfect addition to my post😊

You are very welcome.

May your every post - and comment - continue to be as fine.

Mario Lanza's voice was beautiful as well, hitting very high notes. While I am not a professional voice critic or a musical expert... I, of course, respect this man's technical analysis, but I personally prefer Pavarotti's voice. I think Mario Lanza applied head voice while Pavarotti used chest voice which I prefer. ''The flip'', a break, a wavering Mario Lanza utilized in his style of singing that this man talks about, is something Pavarotti did not utilize, again...something I prefer.

''(too old) and because of that I've seen comments saying his age had made his voice heavy and less melodic.''
.

I respect people's opinions as they are varied and come from one's personal impression making them all valid, however, I do not share the opinion of Pavarotti's final performances as beyond his best, heavy and less melodic due to his age. For me, he maintained mastery over his voice, giving his audience a stellar performance regardless of his advanced age. I think in tribute to Pavarotti and his many decades of spectacular and outstanding performances, it is a nice thing to remember him with fondness and gratitude for the beautiful legacy he left behind in this world. Thank you for your comments😊

Thank you very much! I look forward to your comments ( if you are inclined to do so) to future musical posts of mine☺

Pav was the best. Not wanting to clutter your post with another video, googling Pav at a younger age will confirm your perfect analysis. The man was a gift from above - no question at all about that.
@rinkydinkydoink

I absolutely agree with you. Thank you ☺He was a gift that keeps on giving even after his passing, that alone is an achievement and a triumph not many mortals would have the opportunity of attaining.
