I was 13 and fishing. Most adult anglers looked like Elvis then. One of them was walking around the lake in tears, telling everyone.
@SW-User i have a friend whose older brother bawled his eyes out...we would sometimes make fun of him...oh we are mean...but it's not like i will/did bawl my eyes out when my musical idols pass

I was 27. I went into the restaurant where I was a cook and someone told me. I thought we would close.

@beermeplease I was in a place in August that was, let's call it remote. Reassigned to Germany in November of that year just in time for war games and that's when I first heard of it.

I don't remember
I was in college. I remember saying, "woah, Elvis Presley’s dead !" My roommate said, "Really ? Oh, well," and we all went back to whatever we were doing.

I wasn't born yet, mainly because my father was trying to avoid my birth at all cost, according to his recollection of that decade.

I have a cousin in Canada who's a bonafide Elvis impersonator who travels all over Canada and the USA competing in Elvis singing contests which he wins very frequently!

He and I recently attended a funeral for a cousin of our's and when he showed up at the funeral home during visitation, he was dressed like Elvis including all the hair and makeup and Elvis-era clothing style... and yes, blue swede shoes too.

As it turned out, he didn't actually dress up like Elvis for the funeral, but instead showed up as he normally lives his life at home. In other words, he actually believes that he's the reincarnated spirit of Elvis Presley and he thinks he's Elvis.

my grandpa told me how the world stopped when it was announced JFK was assassinated. i imagine elvis fans experienced something similar...
My Dad and I were in the car on the way to a store when we heard the news on the radio, he pulled over to call his little sister, my aunt, on the payphone to see if she was alright, she was a major Elvis fanatic. I could hear her sobbing and crying all the way to the car.
@beermeplease Were you on the Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy west of Portland in the Raleigh Hills district, near Fred Meyers?
@NativePortlander1970 at 6 i didn't know much about oregon or it's street names....we were probably on i-5 though. i know we have one picture from that trip. it's kinda funny. i'll try to look for it later. i hope i can find it. but i need my morning coffee first 🤣
@beermeplease Sounds like a plan.
