@Haniazed aww we would be cuties
@foldedunfolding LMAO!!!
Another problem is how we are going to make people work until 120???
I mean people aged 50+ are already finding it hard to gain employment in the current market and they only have to work until they're in their 60's or 70's... so, if your company goes into administration in your late 40's, you either go self employed or you're on the scrap heap.
IF you want people in work until the age of 120, then there needs to be a major rethink of the whole job market and employees need to be trained - not only to do other tasks related to their current job, but to give them skills that make them desirable to other employers should they lose their current job.
Given our government's current thinking of "A job is a job", these people will be forced into either cleaning or delivering for UberEats. While I'm not saying that these are bad jobs to do... would they be too demanding for an 80 or 90 year old to do???

but we’d keep the retirement age at 65 RIGHT

i'd still be able to outwork the youngsters of today...not to offend the "younger" generation of workers (20-30 y/o) but they are horrible. in a production environment. i know i might get some grief for this. can they not put their phones away for just 10 minutes?....not where i work...lol

Wouldn't we still be bags of skin and bone years before 120? I don't want to live that long
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
We'll have to in order to pay for the healthcare...
helsbels · 26-30, F
Do you mean that in 10 years time the life expectancy of someone born in 2033 will be 120, or that due to advances people of this generation could live to 120?
I think it's true that birth rates are falling too so we will end up with older populations, will be an interesting future.

I do not see that ever happening.
The older we get, the more mundane life becomes.
What would be the point of living to 120?

Rich people: you know if we can get people to live longer, we can have an even bigger work for to keep us rich and not have to work.

Maybe in other countries...but not the US. The US is a very unhealthy nation.
familyfunguy · 56-60, M
I'd rather do that than rot in the grave or get vaporized by cremation.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
Same, omg I can't imagine how bad my arthritis will be at 120.

At 120 I'll be the creeper hitting on the youthful 80 year olds.
Aweeee :( i didnt wana havta have euthanasia thou that sucks
I'll be dead before 65 anyway...
foldedunfolding · 36-40, FVIP
@HootyTheNightOwl huh!??!! no!!
@foldedunfolding Afraid so... my grandma was 54 and my mother 62 - so I don't hold much hope of outliving them.
I've already outlived my life expectancy as it is... I should have been dead before my first birthday, according to the doctors who were in charge of my care.

As the science goes, we might be able to boost overall lifespan and healthspan. Key is the latter. There's no point living longer, but in a decrepit state.
That said, I think technology and the system should change with it. Automation should be used to make life easier for humanity and to automate mundane tasks. The economic system needs to change so we have more time for loved ones, community, self actualisation, etc.
