Pink Floyd got their name in 1965 when frontman Syd Barrett combined the first names of two American blues musicians from his record collection: Pink Anderson and Floyd Council

I lot of emo bands have some pretty unique names. And I mean actual emotive hardcore, not any of that poppy MCR garbage from the 2000s. One that comes to mind is the band Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate). Sounds like it could be a song title with the parentheses but nope, that's the name of the band.
