Pink Floyd got their name in 1965 when frontman Syd Barrett combined the first names of two American blues musicians from his record collection: Pink Anderson and Floyd Council

@NinaTina I meant to do that all day! Thanks for that.

I lot of emo bands have some pretty unique names. And I mean actual emotive hardcore, not any of that poppy MCR garbage from the 2000s. One that comes to mind is the band Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate). Sounds like it could be a song title with the parentheses but nope, that's the name of the band.

I don't listen to much mainstream stuff, so I have no idea
That being said, I'm not saying this is the actual winner for me, but for some reason it was the first thing that popped into my head (for a real answer, I'd need to think more, and I'm generally loathe to choose favorites in most subjective categories ... I do like one-word names a lot though, it seems, such as Swans, Curve, Swervedriver, Lush), longer names like Love of Diagrams, The Joy Formidable, A Sunny Day in Glasgow or I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness (though I'm not fond of leading articles like "A" and "The"), utterfly pretentious post-rock band names like Godspeed You! Black Emperor .... this would really take more thought than I want to expend at the moment
in the meantime, that inexplicably random first thought that popped into my head was:
Henrietta Collins and the Wifebeating Childhaters
(this is dark satire, don't take it too seriously)
