I'm not much for the Van Halen style solo. Technically genius, but I think they are more about the sloist and not much about the song
I prefer solos that contribute to the song. Go with the flow of the song in mood and musically.
My favorite is the outro solo from Stone in love.
The chord progression is different than the songs progression but still goes with it. And how it plays against the base line.
That's my opinion tho.

I know this is not hard rock and roll but I think it's still great.
Rock solos no matter how good or fast, they are still one note at a time solos. Even if you strum down a whole chord, you're still playing one note at a time.
I find it amazing when someone can play a solo, the rhythm and the bass guitar all at the same time.
I have been trying to play this for about ten years and still can't get it right.
