This is a great masterpiece compared to Barney's theme song or Baby Sharks!!!!🦈🦈🦈

Mac Park is Beethoven's Fifth compared to Revolution 9

@rinkydinkydoink Or Why Don't We Do It In The Road
@JSul3

We have another worst to consider!

LORD ROCKINGHAM'S XI, 'Wee Tom' (1959)
WHY'S IT BAD? 'Hoots Mon', their previous hit, a UK No. 1 in late '58, worked. This one just didn't.
NOTES: This one was featured by Kenny Everett as a contender for his World's Worst Records LP but didn't make the final cut. Tonight is only the second time I have heard this in my whole life. There's a reason for that. I'm not listening to it again! 🌑☹
@supersnipe Another classic Scottish contribution to music..😷

@IM5688 Tiny Tim's version? Surely up there. The novelty wore off quickly.

I never liked MacArthur Park either - but I like Frank Sinatra's My Way even less for its sheer egotism as well as appalling grammar and Sinatra's "singing" voice!

However, what do we mean by "worst", or come to that, "best"? Taste is not a synonym for quality.
exexec · 70-79, C
I never liked that song
durinsBane1983 · 46-50, M
it's a magnificent song actually. Richard Harris did a splendid job, Donna summer's version was inferior in comparison, most old time music lovers like myself will appreciate Harris's version of MacArthur's park as an all time classic.....are you suggesting the garbage what passes for music now is better?
GoodoldBob · 61-69, M
@durinsBane1983 Not suggesting. Stating.
durinsBane1983 · 46-50, M
@GoodoldBob ' stating '? really? explain that? if you can, not just myself, but many many people of my generation & the boomer generation would disagree with you.

PAT CAMPBELL, 'The Deal' (1969).
WHY IS IT BAD? Poor taste, kitsch production.
NOTES: This was featured by the Britsh DJ Kenny Everett in his collection of the World's Worst Records, broadcast on Capital Radio and issued on a puke-coloured vinyl LP. There were a few which were intentionally bad, but rather more which were intended to be romantic, deep, or moving but which just ended up being awful.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
I used to like MacArthur Park a lot, but now I can see it just how pretentious it is and anyone who liked it as a teenager must have been...

Let's swiftly move on. 🤦‍♀
ArtieKat · M
There's an apocryphal story that Richard Harris bet Jimmy Webb a Rolls-Royce that he couldn't write him a number one hit. Harris happily paid up.
Punxi · F
Damn...that does suck!
Lol yea, the lyrics are pretty darn awful.
Musicians have it pretty tough, they need lyrics to go with a melody and some pull crap out of their daily lives and sing it. Sometimes it sucks..
This one has to be up on that list of terrible songs

I dont know if it was the worst but it can contend for it

@BridgeOvertroubledWaters A certain Simon an Garfunkle song was also somewhat over exposed in its time. 😂

NICk BERRY, 'Every Loser Wins' (1986)
WHY IS IT BAD? Corny lyrics, inept production. Sounds like a first-attempt run through.
NOTES: This actually got to No. 1 in the UK owing to the singer's prominent role in a popular TV serial, 'East Enders'.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Not even close.
