When I was young, as a kid before I was 13 my mom once used the intro of this song to get me out of bed.

She put headphones on my head, turned up the volume and played it, to me the intro is the ultimate alarm chime.

Also, I became a Pink Floyd fan

And we mustn't forget this Irish guy - Gary Moore and his solo starting at 2:47 in this clip - one of many I found when looking for "Still Got The Blues" - I love the song as I bond with it so much at this time in my life.....

OMG! Thank you so much for sharing! My mum too made me a Pinky Floyd fan by playing their vinyl records when I was a kid!
"The Dark Side of the Moon" is righteously considered one of the best ever LPs ever made - maybe together with that one by David Bowie - "Space Oddity"...oh well....

most of my taste in classic rock is the influence my stepbrother had on me. Pink Floyd was before he came into my life.

Dark Side of the Moon, every time I listen to it is one of my synesthetic triggers.

Every time I listen to it, my mind is full of images and colors just emenating from a void of absolute darkness.

@AllycatAD yes, 2112 is immense. It's astounding how a threepiece could create that sound. They are all incredible musicians. Peart was a magnificent drummer.

@AllycatAD it was a tragic end for the guy, really, after his family died, but I'm glad I was lucky enough to see the band on the couple of occasions I managed to get tickets. I've not heard much of Satriani, my brother is really a fan of his. I still listen to early Rush albums. In fact, after talking on here with you the other day I played some of their stuff.
