Do you think there is correlation between music taste and personality?

I definitely do. I would say that music defines my personality. The song that turned me on to music was Blockbuster by The Sweet in 1973. From then onwards, I loved glam rock, punk, classic metal, shred metal, gothic metal, grunge and prog metal. I think that says a great deal about who I am. I'm absolutely not a loud and aggressive person, but I've always loved loud and aggressive music. I also like music that's complex and not necessarily catchy, at least until I've played it a few times. Conversely, I've never liked mainstream pop music. In fact, I can't stand modern pop music.

What about you? We want to know what style of music defines you!
Not really. I have very eclectic tastes in music, from classical to jazz fusion, to Motown, to "old school" hip-hop. I doubt anyone could tell anything from my likes other than that I love music. 😊

@bijouxbroussard Mine is very eclectic as well. I just like good music regardless of the genre.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@bijouxbroussard I also have very eclectic tastes in music.

While I am a Classical music buff, first and foremost, I have taken a liking to other genres as well, like Jazz, Rock and Roll, Punk, Disco, New Wave, Synthpop, and to a slight extent, Hip-Hop.

In more recent years, I have taken a liking to Japanese Pop music, which coincides with my love of Anime.
@Sidewinder I can relate to this because I also love anime and much of the music that comes with it.
Yes and no… my tastes are so broad (from mediaeval via renaissance via baroque via classical via romantic to jazz, pop and rock) that I defy anyone to deduce my personality from my musical choices!
Entwistle · 56-60, M
No. We like what we like.
I love Abba..but I would deny that in a court of law!

I heard that serial killers are more likely to listen to classical than any other genre of music, which makes sense to me. I love me some classical music, dont get me wrong, but if i had to listen to it all the time, im pretty sure id end up going on a Chopin spree 🪓🩸🪓🩸🪓 if you catch my drift 😳
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@SW-User Why would serial killers listen to classical music? I thought they would listen to heavy metal because of its often violent and death-obsessed imagery.
SW-User
@NankerPhelge maybe they get enough violence at work, and just wanna relax with a lil mozart @ the end of a long day 🤷‍♂ idk
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@SW-User Violence at work? What kind of jobs do they do?
Torpedocat99 · 46-50, MVIP
Definitely
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M

NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
I suppose so.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
There can be.

And some people make their music taste their personality.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
Of course.
Jm31xxx · 46-50, M
I would say no.

Kiesel · 56-60, M

Choice of music is not a reliable way to discern personality.
usually, yes......... but, there are always exceptions.
sirweighsalot · 22-25, M
Simple people tend to like simple music and complicated people tend to like complicated music, so yes
Alyosha · 31-35, M
Some. It is more representative of character, which is malleable.
