@StrawberryMilkshake For one, the early years of MTV would not have been dominated by Yoko saying, "When John and I...".

@SW-User 25 years old.

Here's some background.

Andrew Aycock took the plane for a joyride without permission
On the second flight, while he was trying to buzz the bus, Aycock failed the attempt as one of the wings of the plane clipped on top of the bus and it broke the wing. Aycock lost control of the plane, it went spiraling and the impact made Rhoads and Rachel’s heads crash to the windshield. The plane then crashed into the garage of a mansion, immediately burning out in flames. All three of them were burnt after the crash to the extent of being burned beyond recognition. Rhoads was identified with only the help of his jewelry and dental records.

SW-User
@graphite Aw dear.
@SW-User Marvin Gaye’s father was a real weirdo. He was a minister who beat his wife. Marvin was defending his mother again when his father killed him.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard Aw fuck...didn't want to assume that it was a case of a terrible parent. I knew so little about this having seen it on a documentary when I was far too young to really understand much less remember much of it.
Marvin slid down to the floor after the first shot.” The singer was pronounced dead at a hospital less than an hour later. His brother Frankie, who lived next door, was holding him as he died and claimed his last words were:

“I got what I wanted… I couldn't do it myself, so I made him do it."
That is just beyond sad.

@Adogslife How about Greg Lake & Keith Emerson. Don't forget Jon Lord.
@DropTopDig Well, Emerson WAS 71...and with nerve damage affecting him, depression, and alcoholism, how much longer was he likely to be around?

Amy Winehouse.
I'm still angry at what happened to her. No Amy, no Adele, trust me.

Marvin.
When I hear Sexual Healing and realize that he had so much more to offer us. Yes, I consider him a fellow drummer.

Jim Croce.
One of my first real experiences upon hearing of "death".

Lennon.
After he died, my childhood was over and I no longer thought of the world as a nice place. I cannot make it all the way through "Mother". I'm just a mess by the end.

Kevin Gilbert.
Most of you haven't heard the name, but you know his music through Sheryl Crow and others. Died at 29 in a horrible, Michael Hutchence-like way.

@uncalled4 There was a truck engineer I occasionally worked with who was found hanging wearing a girdle and heels. His wife was in a battle with the ins co over the life ins claim

Otis Redding every time I hear Sitting On The Dock Of Bay….he had so much lifetime potential if it hadn’t been for his untimely death.
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
Too many man... too many. I always get emotional when I hear Freddy Mercury sing live. Jimi Hendrix. Mozart (if you consider his death untimely. I certainly think it was.) John Lennon. Jeff Buckley is a huge one for me (😭). Prince. Rick Wright. Many more... at least they all left us legacies.
SW-User
@astrosandorbits Was about to mention Buckley. Have been listening to him lately. Great singer. Underrated as a guitarist.
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@SW-User he's terrific. It's great to see someone else acknowledge him here. He had that voice where you could tell him apart from the crowd immediately.

@soar2newhighs very sad when she died. She had a beautiful voice.
@cherokeepatti My father told me I had terrible taste in music. I grew up as a teen in the 60s. and loved the music. Still do. Anyway he heard her and was stunned by her voice.
Told my dad, “ Her? Mama Cass, but she’s part of the terrible taste i have in music!”
He secretly, so he thought bought an album of hers. I found it!

theAlchemist · 56-60, M

FWIW, as a condition of permanent US residency, Davy had to sign up for the US military draft, at the height of the Vietnam War and came extremely close to being conscripted into the Army. He got out of it by losing enough weight to disqualify himself (He was only about 5'4" and didn't weigh much to begin with).

CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Hide...he could have produced some great industrial metal songs. Although I've learned about this musician 18 years after his death I found whole affair with mass hysteria and fans committing suicides very sad. I also find it very curious that he hanged himself a month after Rozz Williams was found hanged in his closet. I think about the death of Rozz Williams when I listen to Christian Death too but it doesn't make me sad.
