Probably Cast Away with Tom Hanks.
There are lots of laudable movies out there.
On any other day i might well have given a different answer.
But no other movie quite gets to grips with just how difficult it is to be a human better than this one.
All the things we come to rely on in normal life prove truly worthless in a world where performing the simplest task takes ingenuity and rethinking to extremes.
Also, how many other movies rely on one character to be the sole focus of attention for two hours ?
