I almost never watch the movie or tv show after I’ve read the book and enjoyed it. Kinda ruins the story for me. I have it in my head a certain way and I like to preserve that.

@OlderSometimesWiser As your user name says, you are wise. I always watch and am always disappointed.

Movies and TV shows based on great books are always a disappointment.

Yes.
I've been reading the 'Vera' novels by Anne Cleeves lately and the adaptions for the ITV series has her as a totally different character.
Sad.

What's the novel series?

@NativePortlander1970 Bernard Cornwell’s Warlord series novels had been made for tv: the Winter King. They’ve changed the characters, the timeline, the casting is wrong and the story isn’t as punchy and gritty as the novels. I’m quietly furious.

@WintaTheAngle Thank you! I loved that series. So you saved me from being disappointed yet again!

@blackarcher256 Yes absolutely please don’t watch it. Those books in my opinion are his best work. And being English I was looking forward to seeing the Saxon raiders. But it is a terrible portrayal of the story.
