Why were tv shows from the 2000s and before more blunt and brutally honest than tv shows today? Not all TV shows today are that bad! [I Love TV Shows]

My older half siblings are in their 30s explains most TV shows today are trash and sugarcoats things too much. Even I think they aren’t that good and I prefer TV shows from the 2000s in early 2010s. I’ve watch some TV shows from the 80s, 90s. Even some in the 70s and they were straight up and blunt. My older brother who is 37 said people these days get easily offended and don’t wanna see the truth. It’s all sugarcoated. My sister who is 33 says even teen cartoons from the 2000s were brutally honest and we need more shows like this today and those shows wouldn’t even air today or get cut off. They grew up in the 80s/90s. I was born in late 2002.
Well I don’t think old TV shows from today are bad in fact summer even pretty good for my opinion. Some may be better than the ones from back then when my brother and sister grew up.

It's highly likely that I simply don't watch enough TV to have a qualified perspective on this, but I honestly remember the stuff that was on when I was growing up being more self-censoring by far than anything I've seen recently. I could see the argument for mid/late-00s to early-10s, but 20th century programming was watered down by so many regulations and social norms that I'm actually kind of shocked that it could come off as less-sugarcoated to someone.
They’re preachy bullshit that don’t reflect reality.. at all

[@AmercanBroad] But why? My brother and sister got to live in the 90s and They can handle all those shows. Well most.
