I was doing some research and of 34 Swedish Titanic survivors was a girl named Dagmar who was in love with a boy who drowned.

She went to New York but returned to Sweden and married another man. Her family still live in Sweden. Her uncle in New York wrote about her life and how she was so sad after her fiance died on the trip. Dagmar Jenny Ingeborg Bryhl, born on September 2, 1891 in Skara, in Västergötland, was one of the 34 Swedes who survived the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912. During her upbringing, she lived with her family on Skolgatan in Skara. Her father Edvard Gustaf Gottfrid Lustig worked as city lawyer. Her mother was Ida Jenny Lustig. Dagmar was the younger sister of Kurt Arnold Gottfrid Bryhl, who was born in 1887.
Some in Sweden said that Rose in Titanic was really Dagmar although the Director says it was inspired by someone who didn't even take the trip on Titanic. Hmm.🤔

@Carazaa maybe there was some background information looked into the passengers by the film makers or just sheer coincidence

@smiler2012 Her uncle wrote about Dagmar's tragic story, he lived in New York. But I think the director wasn't thrilled about "Rose" going back to Sweden. He might have liked a happy American ending to the movie Titanic. And He probably just said to his friend in America that Rose was about her to make her feel good, knowing full well he "took" the story from Dagmars uncle. That is what I think might have happened. Because if he had said he took the story from someone else, or the girl was really Dagmar, then he needed to compensate the writer, and maybe even Dagmars family for the millions he made off of a true story.
