@assemblingaknob Canada Dry is, or maybe was, a brand of ginger ale. And to drink a place dry means to consume all the alcohol there. So he saw an ad for Canada Dry (their slogan was/is “Drink Canada Dry”) so he took it literally and went to Canada to attempt it.
