TV Guide's preview of the very first Star Trek episode aired in September 1966

"Spaceman" lol

I loved that salt eating creature episode!

@JimboSaturn I did too. I remember watching it when the show premiered.

@DrWatson I was too young or not born yet for the premieres but I watched reruns in the 70's. I remember at the end to my delight, the creature's true form revealed itself; big mouth with suction-cup hands lol.

@JimboSaturn it's interesting because they didn't show either of the pilots before this first episode.

As a die hard Trekkie, I find this "fascinating"...and yet..."illogical". 🖖🏻🖖🏻🖖🏻 Live long...and prosper!
Who’s gonna watch that nonsense? 😂😂
Jacko1971 · 51-55, M
@JimboSaturn I don't think it was as popular in its day as it now?
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Jacko1971 Yes it only got popular in reruns lol
@Jacko1971 It was MAJOR in 1969 and 1970 at least.

Colour TV wasn't the norm back then. Star Trek was made extra colourful deliberately.
Piper · 61-69, F
It's sort of a colorfully written preview, for sure, about a show that has remained popular for so long. The only thing Twilight Zone-type I'd agree with about it though, was in the "morality" messages included in many episodes.
The BBC didn’t show this until the seventies… colored space food 😀

This review gives away the plot.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Jacko1971 TV Guide was like that.
I think I was about 6, I do remember watching it with Pop. He loved science fiction—still does.

@bijouxbroussard I watched Star Trek mainly for the colored space food! 😄
