It's a toss up for me between Star Wars, now known as Episode IV (A New Hope), and The Matrix.
I saw Star Wars back in the theater when I was 13. I had never seen anything like it. It was so new and exciting, a truly great film.
The Matrix too was quite revolutionary for the genre with its themes and the cinematography and bullet time effects.
So many good ones out there, along with quite a few stinkers, lol.
