My granddaughter is doing an internship in Heartland, America, and trying to soak up the local culture. She already has been to a couple of demolition derbies, and the one that broke me up was the one between school buses. She was amazed when I told her California used to have those back in the day as well. Sure fire way for the dirt auto race tracks to bring in more revenue between the "legit" races, and a way to wring another revenue stream out of the junkers before they went to the metal scrap recyclers. Wouldn't pass the pollution laws these days.

@MethDozer Well, they are a bomb when the rammed cars leave oil, battery acid, and other fluids leaking into the soil and what precious little water aquifer we have left.
