Unless you're standing in a filled bathtub all you're going to get is a rude awakening.
At least for home systems.

This could be a shocking experience for your daughter.
Justgreg · M
Awesome! I am a biomedical engineer and currently install X-ray systems in veterinary hospitals and just got my daughter into my company and I’m training her to install X-ray systems. I’ve been teaching her electronics since she was young. Her boyfriend can’t even change a tire.

My brother-in-law, an electrician, with 30 years' experience nearly died two years ago because of another electrician's mistake 10 years before that.
It is not an area I would ever attempt to do any repair work in.

As long as he is around, 120 VAC is the most dangerous voltage around because it is so accessible!
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
Is he having any success?
saintsong · 41-45, F
@hippyjoe1955 yes it's fixed and works well now!
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M

So he basically taught her how to use a screwdriver?
Have him teach her how to defend herself or change a flat or how to cook a comfort food meal..
Have him teach her how to defend herself or change a flat or how to cook a comfort food meal..
@Vin53 Why does she need him to teach her how to cook??? These are skills that she might have already...
Vin53 · M
I said a particular comfort food, something like meatloaf or goulash. Not cooking in general. @HootyTheNightOwl

Learning electrical installations is an awesome experience. But, safety first.

Tell them to turn off the power first. I do the same work as your daughter’s boyfriend.
smiler2012 · 61-69
{@saintsong] i am not suggesting your daughter is not competent but it is a bit reckless as electricity is a dangerous thing to mess about with
saintsong · 41-45, F
@smiler2012 he's teaching her step by step and taking over where need be.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
