What is your favorite horror sub-genre and why?

I like slow burning ghost stories because they are melancholic and creepy, and folk horror like The Wicker Man, Witchfinder General and Midsommar because the horror is inherent in human nature.

@Richard65 what slow burning ghost stories have you seen? Do you mean like The Others? Im trying to find more movies like that. Im watching the new movie Presence as we speak. It just started i hope it will be good. Lol its 430 am everyone is asleep, the house is quiet and here i am scaring myself 🤣

@AngelUnforgiven yes, The Others is excellent, as is The Innocents, del Toro's The Orphanage. Then there's Dark Water, Kwaidan, It Follows. There's plenty of such films out there.
@AngelUnforgiven @Richard65 there's a 1989 British TV movie called Woman In Black that fits this category and is exceptionally creepy. There's also a remake but I haven't seen that version.

@robingoodfellow I've seen that, an excellent TV version. That scene where he's resting on the bed and opens his eyes to see the woman floating above him with her face inches from his face still freaks me out. The remake with Daniel Radcliffe is also excellent.
@Richard65 yes that scene freaks me out too! I'll have to check out the other version.
