I am in a rehab home recovering from a month-long hospital stay. I had three surgeries to treat an infected neck wound. One side effect of my whole ordeal is I lost leg strength. I use a walker now, but am getting physical therapy.

They check my blood sugar three times a day with finger pricks, inject me with insulin twice a day, and give me a daily pill. My blood sugar is close to normal now.

I hope when I get home I will not have prick my fingers as often. I have not yet done it on my own! I also hope pills will be enough and I will not need to inject myself with insulin. I have never injected myself with anything before!
