I watched Akira Kurosawa‘s High and Low for the first time and I’m just astonished

It’s a police procedural drama and it truly was the first of its kind. I’ve seen so many similar films who do the exact same style as seen in High and Low and it’s just surreal seeing it all done for the very first time — how so many great films that use that particular filming technique get it from this film. I do like Kurosawa’s samurai movies better, but this just shows he didn’t have to be typecast to show he could still make a groundbreaking film.
