My summer of cinema continues with that oh so good Lynchian magic he gave an undeserving world in 2001

Soon after his passing this year I watched Inland Empire and that was such a good experience, I even liked it then more than I ever did this one, but maybe this watching will be even better. I LOVE Naomi Watts in this, and there are so many little genius moments, from the opening Jitterbug, and the old couple in the car with those scary grins and slowly patting each other on the laps, not to mention how they reappear at the end, what a freaky conclusion, this is Lynch firing from all those cylinders, (is that the expression? I might be mixing it up ever so much, when mom was around she'd giggle when I got phrases wrong). My faves from Lynch are his earliest experimental works The Alphabet, The Grandmother and Eraserhead, I grew up on Twin Peaks, but I didn't like his use of melodrama, when it comes to melodrama I have to go to Germany for my ideal use of it. I love Lynch most when he's mysterious and foreboding, this film here and Inland Empire, and much of Twin Peaks The Return is like that, I still haven't completed The Return btw, and I don't quite like the Got a Light episode, just to say on the record. I will rank this film in My Film Canon either during my watch or afterwards, because I don't know where it should go yet.

I had the pleasure of seeing Blue Velvet on 35mm not too long ago. Lynch was a real human.
