I recommend d you watch The Lion in Winter . A great movie from 1968 with a superb cast. It’s a movie that takes place on Christmas Eve. It is also a movie like a situation that has layer after layer and thinking you understand it…another layer is exposed. Great Performances by Katherine Hepburn, Peter O’ Toole and a fabulous supporting cast that came into their own right years later.
Not a Christmas movie, but last night we watched The High and the Mighty
I love the simplicity of those old classics. There were a few mistakes with aviation references, like fuel gages aren’t as accurate as referenced in the movie. Also references to the middle and inner markers seemed off. But all within theatrical flexibility in the interest of ramping up the drama.
I don't know if it's on Tubi, but It's A Wonderful Life is one of my all-time favorite movies. And, A Christmas Carol, the original B&W, with Alastair Sims.
@daydeeo I didn't look for It's a Wonderful Life because I've seen it so many times. They had a movie on Tubi made in 1957 called Scrooge, but I haven't watched it yet.
@4meAndyou There are very few movies that I'll watch repeatedly. That is one of them. I must be allergic to it though, cuz my eyes get all watery every time!
I've seen a number of them. Good suggestions thank you. :) A good one I saw last year was I Heard The Bells. It is about poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and what led him to pen that poem that has become a beloved Christmas Hymn.
@OverTheHill That sounds wonderful! I was somewhat limited by the movies I could stream for free on Tubi. The nice thing is, anyone who can stream can watch these movies.
@craig7 IKR? It was a surprise to me. It came on automatically after I watched "The Bishop's Wife", which I forgot to add to my list! It was a wonderfully pleasant surprise!
White Christmas is always a favorite of mine. A couple versions of A Christmas Carol are good too....as are many of the Rankin/Bass claymation shows from when i was a kid.
