Which do you think was Alan Rickman’s greatest role and why?

I liked him as Marvin in Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy

Personally i'd suggest Metatron his character in Dogma.
Clearly pi🤬🤬ed off he somehow wound up in a movie that was likely to offend twice as many as loved it.
But boy didn't he steal the show. 😀

Other movies he did worth a mention include:
The Sherriff of Nottingham in the equally appalling Robin Hood Prince of thieves.
Jaime in Truly madly deeply.
And of course Professor Snape in the Harry Potter movies.

You should add Perfume: The Story of a Murderer

There are so many stand out roles he played. Gruber was the first time he stole the show. Snape for sheer durability of the role and Harry for the humanity he bought to the role. While Marvin in Hitchhikers Guide was just pure Rickman. You knew who it was from the first syllable😷

No option for the Rev. Obadiah Slope ? (BBC-TV adaptation of the Barchester Chronicles). Shame.

He will always be remembered for DH. That scene where he falls from the building looking terrified? It was on a set, but he really WAS scared of heights.
