What was the Greatest year for Cinema?

I really remember seeing a few good films in 2008/2009. But it has been a while since I last got excited about seeing an upcoming film in more recent years.

Film critics often cite 1939 as the greatest year for movies.

Gone With the Wind
Wizard of Oz
Stagecoach

and many others.

(And yes, 1939 was even before my time! lol)
