Which film do you consider to be a masterpiece?

I've seen thousands of films but there are only two that I might consider masterpieces, both directed by Hitchcock: "Vertigo" and "Rear Window". They aren't my only favourites by him, but they're two that at might consider come close to that description.

City of Lost Children - (French, 1995)

@Gusman City of Lost Children and The Cook... both have great stylistic charm and from what I recall, very, very dark humour. Did you enjoy any of Greenaway's others? I'm trying toink which would be my favourite... I've not watched Dune.

@PhilDeep I don't follow Directors and do not really know his films.
I know I thoroughly enjoyed the macabre....Cook...
I recommend watching the original Dune, not the remake due out on Boxing Day here in Australia.

@Gusman I think I did try a long, long time ago and thought I might understand it after reading the book, which I still have not done.

@PhilDeep The book confused me so much that I could not finish it. Got lost somewhere between Planet Arrakis and Planet Geidi Prime🥺😂

@Gusman I don't think I even got that far, but that was about thirty years ago now, I think!

@Gusman City of Lost Children was awesome. Moreover, Angelo Badalamenti made soundtrack for it.

@CrazyMusicLover From all of his soundtracks, I think Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive would be the most haunting... far as I can recall.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@PhilDeep Mulholland drive on top for me. Always.
But I find it fascinating that something like collaboration between Marc Caro, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Angelo Badalamenti existed. It's no surprise that The City of Lost Children is so outstanding.

@CrazyMusicLover I've only seen it once, myself, at the cinema when it was first released.
