Spongrbob toe scene is pretty brutal.
For me, the scene from Ed, Edd and Eddy when Eddy is tied to an office chair with and angry Ralph opposite and has his skinny twig elbow slammed clockwise against a filing cabinet over and over again for hours in a competition

Haunts my thoughts that scene.

i thought south park was super bad graphic violence so i never watched it
EzraIsShy76028 · 22-25
@GoFish Well...yes and no. South Park is extremely fucked up but the animation is so simple and so poorly made that it's hard to take it serious. All the kids are made in a construction paper/cardboard cutout style where they literally all have the exact same faces and body types and they themselves joke about not being people to tell which character is which if they're forced to wear the same clothes as part of a uniform or something.

The later seasons have more detailed violence than the earlier seasons though. The animation did actually get better over time despite the characters maintaining their same cheap designs.

I'm personally a massive South Park fan by the way perhaps my literal most favorite show of all time though I do respect that a show as edgy and shocking as South Park isn't for everyone.

Wtf?! If I have ever watched anything like this as a kid, I went over my head. 😅 I guess we're more sensitive about these things as adults than as kids.
EzraIsShy76028 · 22-25
@CrazyMusicLover Always funny to see people's reactions to this scene. 😂👍 The only way it could be made worse was if he followed up on the lemons and salt with hand sanitizer and hot sauce in the cheese grater open wound.

This scene in specific is so explicitly fucked up that even as a dumb kid I think I would've noticed. 😅

But yes! In general we definitely are more sensitive about these things as adults than as kids!

One time when I was young I was watching cartoons and Goofy pulled his pants down and no s*** he exposed himself right on TV.

Cartoons were never that weird when I was growing up in the 70s.
EzraIsShy76028 · 22-25
@Munumbis The cartoon in my post if you don't already know is also a really old cartoon at this point from the 90s. Newer than the 70s for sure but not a "kids these days" sort of thing.
Munumbis · 46-50, M
@EzraIsShy76028 I grew up in the 70s. By the 90s things were weird. Not teaching kids pronouns weird but weird
EzraIsShy76028 · 22-25
@Munumbis I get what you mean. It seems like a lot of the most popular cartoons at the time (Ren and Stimpy in specific like the video being a BIG example) aimed to be as weird and as disturbing as possible. It almost seemed like the animators were on a whole bunch of drugs...and a lot of them were actually to be fair.

I believe the video example which is from a cartoon from 1991 is the one that started the weird, disturbing, drug-like trend for cartoons at the time. It influenced a lot of later shows including SpongeBob...and SpongeBob is weird but no Ren and Stimpy level that's for sure.
This is labeled as more of a cult classic for older audiences, not a children's show.
EzraIsShy76028 · 22-25
@Magicianzini When it first aired it was labeled as a children's show and aired on a children's show network and was rated TV-Y7.

The only one that was 100% for adults was the failed adult party cartoon version.

Though if the original children's Ren and Stimpy aired today it would most likely get a TV-14 rating at least just simply due to how unsettling one of the two main characters, Ren could be. Like with how crazy and psychotic he could be it wouldn't be too hard to believe he's secretly a serial killer.
@EzraIsShy76028 Yes, but then they fired the producer right after that. Since then it's just labeled for older audiences.
O i thought you meant like heart breaking i was gona say bye bye butterfree pickachus goodbye and final atonment when vegeta energy explodes to kill majan boo

@TryingtoLava I originally thought the same and I was going to say Marineford Arc in One Piece - if people know, they know.
@ViciDraco ik :(
EzraIsShy76028 · 22-25
@TryingtoLava Oh yeah LOL I meant a different kind of painful. 😅 Surprisingly enough though despite me not watching a large variety of shows and mostly sticking to the same old comfort shows I do actually get all three of those references you mentioned!

@ViciDraco And I also get this one too. Surprisingly I've seen all 3: Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, and One Piece despite me usually not having watched famous shows everyone else has watched.
