Antiheroes and villains are more interesting because they are relatable. Pure heros have no social parallel.

And people who believe themselves to be pure and wholesome are generally the most abominable. Take the religious, they’ll murder you with a hymn or verse in their heart, and believe themselves to be clean.

this is why i prefer using the alignment chart, lawful/neutral/chaotic? good/neutral/evil?

take your religious example, as long as they keep to the commandments they can be considered lawful. the genuinely nice people would be lawful/good, the ones that preach in the street their fear mongering doctrine about hell and sin would be Lawful/Evil.

if they break the commandments then they become Chaotic. choosing to support your lgbt child at risk of being shunned by the community would be Chaotic/Good. being a priest that inappropriately touches kids would be Chaotic/Evil
