You might like The Haunting of Hill House (the series rather than a film, but very well done), or The Woman in Black—more atmosphere than jump scares.

Ummm Steven King Rose Red... Don't know if you have ever seen it but it's free on YouTube BEST Haunted House movie EVER!!! I seen it for the first time back when I was with my kids Mom... She was all obsessed with it but I'm glad she introduced me to that movie... And YES it's 4 hours long but IF your a big Horror movie Buff like I am it will keep you attention ❤❤❤❤ cause I have ADHD I grew up with it and it's the ONLY 4 hour movie that keeps my attention that long ❤❤❤Trust me it's worth a watch on YouTube... "How Beautiful you are Rose Red" Ellen Rembauher from the movie ❤❤❤❤

@BrandonWyatt36 pretty sure it’s based on a real Haunted House in LA. I didn’t love it first time I saw it but I’ve been wanting to see it again.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@BrandonWyatt36 Wow I never heard of that movie, and I fancy myself a Stephen King fan. I'll have to check it out.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@JimboSaturn It's a 2002 TV mini-series, written for TV by King as a "loose" adaptation of Shirley Jackson's THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE and the film of that, THE HAUNTING.
BooksRMe · 46-50, M
The Haunting, a 60's film based on The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, I never completed the Netflix iteration, but that was pretty good too. Haunted houses isn't my favorite genre of horror though, I prefer those videos of abandoned buildings instead, which can be pretty creepy, like the ending of Blair Witch.
Levenrack · 46-50, M
House on Haunted Hill (1999) for some great atmospheric creepy horror. But my favorite that I'm sure many others will agree, if you don't mind changing the location from a house to a spaceship. Event Horizon (1997) is the best haunted type horror. 😏
Paige81 · 41-45, F
@Levenrack I’ll look up House on Haunted Hill. Thanks!
Lopaka55 · 70-79, M
The Haunting, the original from the 1969s.Lots if spooky atmospheres with no gore.i guess someone beat me
to it. Lol

Also, the Uninvited. Black and white, from the 40s. It us treated very seriously and has lots of atmosphere. :(

Like horror? I like Winchester.. based on true Winchester house
SouthernGuy1987 · 36-40, M
1408 was a great horror movie with Samuel Jackson and John Cusack. It's about a haunted hotel room that rarely gets used for guests. Amazing thriller 👏
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@SouthernGuy1987 Oh ya, I forgot that one, it was pretty good!
Holden · 31-35, M
I like many, so it's hard to pick lol. Btw do you scare easily or just enjoy horror despite not scaring easily?
Paige81 · 41-45, F
@Holden I scare easy but enjoy the thrill of fear.
Holden · 31-35, M
@Paige81 omg me too! I scare very easily. Some haunted houses I go to I even get really scared at and others, not so much.
4thdimensiondream · 70-79, M
Probably Poltergeist for me. At the time, 1982 I believe, the effects were groundbreaking.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@4thdimensiondream A classic.
CaliCanadianAngela · 41-45, F
I forgot about The Others - I remember it it being overly scary but super suspenseful and creepy!
Paige81 · 41-45, F
@CaliCanadianAngela yes the creep and spooky factor is high!
Dayman343 · M

SpectralMourning · 41-45, M
Crimson Peak was a pretty good one.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F

What's the movie with the Winchester (gun) widow heiress who kept building onto the house to keep the ghosts out? That was creepy
4thdimensiondream · 70-79, M
@AngelUnforgiven I think that was Rose Red.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
@4thdimensiondream I found it, its called Winchester, thank you! 💙

4thdimensiondream · 70-79, M
@AngelUnforgiven I didn’t know that one. I think I saw an interview with King and it sounded like he based Rose Red on this Winchester heiress too.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Just for something fun and silly: The Bowery Boys in GHOSTS ON THE LOOSE. Even has Bela Lugosi in it.
Midlifemale · 61-69, M
I love older movies. Its sad to read that so many great actors from my generation have died.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting.
Rokan · 36-40, M

Monalisasmith86 · 36-40, F
