Any Stranger Things fans?

I've never seen it and I don't have the service it streams on. But what is the main premise of the show, and how or why is it so popular?

In some respects it was a series of different tales United by a group of people... Definitely a sci fi, monster thread running through the whole thing, toppped off with the usual bad government secret agency thing... It's good, not brilliant but good and I think it's mainly the thing actors that carry it.... They care and in return we care about them
