Every time I rewatch Stand by Me (and trust me, it’s been a lot 😅), I’m reminded of just how special River Phoenix was.

He had that rare kind of presence — the kind that sticks with you long after the movie ends. He would’ve been such a phenomenal actor today.

@TiaRose the reason all of the kids were so good in Stand By Me, is they were all going through really heavy stuff in their real lives at the time (abuse, etc), and it sort of came across on the screen.
