A few years back I passed Willem Dafoe on Barrow Street in the West Village in NYC. I think he’s a good actor but I don’t see him as a Van Helsing, like I didn’t see Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher.
As for Dracula movies, I was impressed by the Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Incredible film, but not horribly scary, 6.5 or 7 of 10. Of course I knew what to expect. Those unfamiliar with previous versions may have a different experience. If you wish to amp up the experience, see it at a Dolby theatre where the sound system will be deafening and the seats vibrate

I’d say 6. It was brilliantly directed and filmed, though. A true visual masterpiece.

Maybe a 7. A few jump scares but it is hauntingly beautiful
