[Personal] How often does anyone actually know anyone before they see them on national network broadcast?

I recently saw Abi Carter become a celebrity on American idol. That was really the only person that I can think of that I ever met briefly and saw on national TV.

That is until tonight.

I saw tonight a girl on CBS that is apart of a local Christmas broadcast singing dancing to a number of pieces. Actually it's in rebroadcast now.

This just too weird for me. Because I only briefly met her at weekly Street event. And the circumstance was weird. She asked me to help her.

Yet how often does this happen to anyone in so short a period of time?

Jk, if you mean those famous people that appear on TV frequently and people know their names by looking at their face, I used to see one of those in my favorite tea house in past or sometimes walking on the street. Now I don't even go downtown so seeing someone like that is almost impossible.

@CrazyMusicLover I do watch American idol occasionally. That show actually originated in the UK with Pop idol with again Simon Fuller.

Yes I had to look up the exact name yet I knew it originated in the UK.

@DeWayfarer I'm always surprised when I learn that this and this singer came from a talent show or gained popularity thanks to Eurovision because foreign talent shows have never been broadcasted here. When I was a kid, I only got to know about them through music channels where they had music videos. Like Kelly Clarkson, for example.

I once lived not to far from either of his places. The second was far less known. He had a nudist colony that had talent shows.

Never actually went to either. Only drove by them.

I once grew up with one of the teachers on the little rascals. Yet that was long after she was famous. So that doesn't count either.

I've met a few famous people. Kiki Vandewegh and Kevin Duckworth of the Portland Trail Blazers, author Walt Morey (at a luncheon I won the honor of attending with a short story I wrote), Gallagher (he was signing autographs after performing at the Oregon State Fair, so that was less of an accomplishment, but still cool), wrestling legend Mick Foley (I count it, even though he was just signing stuff at a car show), and Angelina Jolie. (She was in Oregon City with Billy Bob during the filming of the movie Bandits. She wasn't in the movie, she was just there supporting him.)

I have to say, though, unless you're hanging out in the places where famous people tend to be, you don't tend to find them.

Abi Carter wasn't well known until American idol. I knew her from long before that.

If I actually went to certain events I would likely have hundreds of others.

This is area is home of Coachella and stage coach events. I never go to those.

I mean they were unknown and then were shown on national TV.

@LordShadowfire it's only happened twice over my lifetime. Yet as well only in the last few months.
