Why would a movie theater be showing a movie that came out 4 years ago?

I can understand playing a classic movie again in theaters that first came out 15, 20, 30 years ago for the sake of nostalgia but a 4 year old movie?

Why?

It's not "old" yet. It wasn't a popular movie...

Art house movie theaters will often show certain films that are significant for some reason. Recently one in my city has been screening 3D movies. Last month it was a series of 70mm. Same place does midnight cult films. Going to see Rocky Horror is still fun with lots of people.

Decades ago, before video rentals, we had a theater that changed movies every day. The schedules came out four times a year and it was interesting to see what double features were selected.

@BlueSkyKing what's an art house theater?
That sounds fun. I have a few classics I'd like to see in theaters
@iamnikki Art house theaters are usually independent venues that show foreign and independent films. Limited runs can last a week or just a few days.
@iamnikki I should also mention that the theatre has an organ for silent movies.
