Would you be upset if you hosted an awards show and didn't win an award you were nominated for?

Well, those would be two separate occasions, as you can't (or shouldn't) be both competitor and host in the same see-and-be-seen publicity beanfeast.

Otherwise I'd like to think if I had been in those sorts of trade-show circles, simply being nominated shows someone thinks your work is good.
