Unsure haven't watched that much live T.V this year.
Same with films only 2 films seem semi watchable at the moment.
@Sroonaka616 and those were what movies?

Thevy29 · 41-45, M
Star trek Lower Decks.

The New Mission Impossible.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@LILY61 Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning part one came out this year, its 2hours 43 minutes and a great ride. Part two is coming out next year I think.

I think there was a continuation of the Original Series. With talented voice actors mimicking the original cast, doing the scripts of the final two seasons of the Original series that was never finished.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Centres around Captain Pike when Spock is his second in command, before Kirk. And is quite enjoyable... The company that, is making it was making 4 Star trek shows at the same time. Including Lower Decks.

Deep space 9 was the best Star Trek series.
@Thevy29 my husband hated DS9. i never tried to watch it. i will look for the new Mission impossible
@Thevy29 I just finished season four of Lower Decks.

@SW-User i couldn't get into that show.

@LILY61 It was dry, but very well written
hunkalove · 61-69, M
I haven't owned a TV in 15 years. Best movie I've seen so far this year is Godzilla vs Megalon (1973).
@hunkalove cool...what kind of old movies?
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@LILY61 From the 1940s-50s in black and white. Film noir and old sci-fi and monster movies.
@hunkalove i was so excited about the old monster movies being redone but the youngsters don't like it. weird! The Deniro Frankenstein was weirdly cast and there was no emotion in it...loved the new wolfman. the Demeter movie was well made but it wasn't scary...in the book i was scared to death. i don't think people know what emotion and anticipation are any more.

i love when they try to do film noir now...but there are few and far between that are decent
One piece’ was ok (netflix)
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout who is in that one...what kind of thing is it?
@LILY61 nobody famous.
It’s a real life remake of a Japanese manga cartoon 😎

thepreposterouspanda · 36-40, M
TV show would probably be the Doctor Who specials that came out, they were all pretty good.

As far as movies go, I'd say Oppenheimer. 🤔
@thepreposterouspanda so you enjoyed Oppenheimer? i never understood Dr Who
thepreposterouspanda · 36-40, M
@LILY61 Yeah, it was interesting. :)

I've gotten more and more into it as the years have gone on as far as Doctor Who goes. Had to find new sci-fi since Star Trek went totally bananas. 😅
@thepreposterouspanda i don't understand why the star trek shows aren't about the Academy with james t kirk.....just like the new game of thrones show should be about roberts rebellion not some boring ass story from 300 years before

Happy Valley
The Gallows Pole
Blue Lights
@SW-User i am going to have to look up every one of those. i have never heard of them
SW-User
@LILY61 There are 3 series of Happy Valley and you need to start at the beginning. The other two had a first series this year.
@SW-User i will
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
I haven't seen any new shows this year. Though, King of the Hill is my favorite show
@Blondily i only watched the first ep. i think i missed something
Blondily · F
@LILY61 You should watch it. Its an amazing series.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
I tend to watch old stuff which I know is good, rather than riding the wave of hot topic and wasting my time with garbage. I'm currently enjoying rick and morty, King of tulsa was good, but after that I don't think I have much else to watch.
@MartinTheFirst i don't watch cartoons anymore. even tired of South park. i loved King of Tulsa. i too re-watch old shows rather than open up to new possibilities much. although i have been enjoying For all mankind
This show. One of my favorite actors is lead, and the subject is fascinating. And apparently it was renewed for 2024.

@bijouxbroussard the writing is milk toast but i really like the main guy and his sister and some of the other cast
@LILY61
"milquetoast"
? Interesting.
@bijouxbroussard i knew it when i typed it but i like the slanginess. every one i have ever known wrote Milk toast. like ketchup before it changed from catsup....yes, i am old
Only Murders in the building

And not thos year but insaw it this year- Derry Girls

Films ... Wonka
@LILY61 This was really special but also because i saw some of it being filmed and got to go on set
@InOtterWords i am so jealous...that would be cool...walking around the set of a show that you watch
@InOtterWords I saw the trailer for Wonka, and quite honestly I'm very conflicted with a snarky Hugh Grant Oompa Loompa 😶
tenente · 100+, M
show: the bear s2
movie: dead reckoning p1
@tenente was dead reckoning that good or just standard fair?
tenente · 100+, M
@LILY61 oscar-bait it isn't lol 😂 but you've got to see it! not standard: DR has way better plot, amazing action, engaging plot and it's entertaining compared to JJ Abrams MI. JJA ruined MI (and ST, and Super8, and on and on and on) but McQ really delivers the best MI movies and can't wait to see DR2
@tenente i will see it when i can

@NativePortlander1970 i can't believe how much i like this show....there are practically no comedies out now that i find watchable. but i like this
@LILY61 IKR? I liked this and Lower Decks on Paramount+, they don't make shows like they used to.
