I heard a teacher in Florida showed it to a class of 4th graders recently and now people want that teacher fired for having kids watch a movie they were clearly too young to watch. I like horror movies, but yeah don't show that movie to children lol.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@IWasCallingYaLarry yea they are a bit young for that movie.
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
@smileylovesgaming if I watched that movie as a child, I'd probably never wanna play Kingdom Hearts again.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@IWasCallingYaLarry my dad let me watch horror movies back then. I remember Chucky and the Jason and Freddy guy
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
@smileylovesgaming Those movies weren't that scary.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@IWasCallingYaLarry that is true. The movie IT I may not had watch back then. Now I love that movie
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
@smileylovesgaming Yeah IT I can see children being scared by though I never was that scared by it.
Jm31xxx · 41-45, M
@IWasCallingYaLarry might have been an easy mistake to make though.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@IWasCallingYaLarry yea my dad was a bit crazy for letting me watch them. Sleepless nights and I got school the next day. It drove my mom crazy
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
@smileylovesgaming Btw I went to a terrifying haunted house last night.

@IWasCallingYaLarry Is there evidence for this teacher showing it...?
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
@SW-User There is this. Goes over the entire thing, actually.

@IWasCallingYaLarry I take anything I see on YouTube with an extreme pinch of salt. I'll watch it though.
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
@SW-User I mean this is how you get real news these days. Mainstream media isn't gonna be honest in reporting anything these days no matter what outlet it is. Alternative platforms for information are more of what to go by these days, because they actually do fact checking on things and if they're wrong, they say "Hey, I was wrong. Here is the correction."

@IWasCallingYaLarry
“Last week, a video was mistakenly shown by a teacher during indoor lunch. Only the first 20 minutes of the movie were played. During those first 20 minutes, there was a scary scene that was shown. At that point, the teacher turned off the video,” said Hirsh. “Parents were reassured that the school has followed all school district policies and procedures in response to the incident and will continue to support the students’ safety and well-being on a daily basis.”
Yeah, OK
SW-User
@IWasCallingYaLarry And so what makes you so sure that YouTube IS real news? People on YouTube often don't even try to hide the fact they have an agenda.
SW-User
@IWasCallingYaLarry Also, why is MSM suddenly lying to us? If you say the 2020 election, we're done here.
SW-User
@IWasCallingYaLarry Guess what, MSM also issues multiple fact corrections.
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
@SW-User They've been lying to us for far long before the 2020 election, dude. Nice that you'd automatically assume that, though because it shows you don't really have an argument to even make. Media has been lying for decades. Oh and MSM outlets only admit when they're wrong about something after enough backlash from people, otherwise if nobody is calling them out, they will continue to lie about whatever they're currently lying about.
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
@SW-User And yes people on YouTube show their agenda driven bias on reporting stuff. Left leaning YouTubers do it and so do right leaning YouTubers. It isn't just a one sided thing. But why would teachers be calling for a teacher to be fired then if this teacher didn't actually show blood and honey to kids? Is it so hard to believe a teacher would do something crazy? As if they're all perfect angels?
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
@SW-User Look, I know you're a boomer, probably way older than me so you don't understand this current generation, but we live in the information age these days. When someone says something in media or in a podcast or whatever these days or a politician says X, people can now pretty quickly find out if it's true or not. Mainstream news on television is dead.
SW-User
@IWasCallingYaLarry Dude, I'm not saying this is fake. I've read other accounts of this. I'm sure it's true.

And look, here's how I see it about the news.

If you want reliable information, pay good money for it. At present, we all know that most "news" sites are just giving you exciting headlines that cost you nothing in exchange for your attention (and clicks). You pay nothing for the news, you get a low-quality product and then you become part of the product cos your attention is first captured by the crappy headline and then sold to politicians or advertisers.

In today's world, information and attention are CRITICAL. It's bonkers to give up your attention for free and get low quality information in exchange. We pay for good quality food, phones, cars, etc. Why not pay for good quality information? Newspapers have their biases as well, of course, but they at least make an honest effort to find the truth. Some "online only" newspapers are just brainwashing machines admittedly.

Also, if you read about something that is really important to you, like you have a genuine concern that the COVID vaccine is causing people to drop dead all over the world because YoutTube said so, then make the effort to read relevant scientific literature. I.E. peer-reviewed articles, books by well-known academic publishers and the writings of professors from reputable institutions. Science has limitations and has been wrong in the past, but it has been our most reliable knowledge source for centuries. If you think they're wrong, then it's possible, but provide some empirical evidence of your own. That's just an example btw.

@IWasCallingYaLarry And what you seem to forget is that a lot of people, if they've seen something on YouTube that reinforces their particular belief, they don't WANT to be told that it's not true, so they will dismiss all fact checks that contradict them as biased or a cover up by Them. Even if they can pretty quickly determine what is true or not.
