Have you ever seen or heard of the old sitcom, One Day at a Time?

It apparently ran from 1975-1984. It's funny, I love really old sitcoms and have seen lots of them since I was a kid like Family Ties, The Facts of Life, The Brady Bunch, The Jeffersons, All In The Family...but I didn't even know that One Day at a Time even existed. Kind of surprising, considering how long it ran.

oh yeah, watched it when it first came out

I love the handyman - he was a great talk show guest and a game show participant

and that was the beginning of valerie bertinelli

it's a shame that the woman that played her big sister went through the drug phase but she made it back and was even on disney movies afterwards.

gawd I'm such an old tv freak

if you haven't seen it - "it's your move" was really good too

@Pretzel Interesting. Yeah, I immediately recognized a young Valerie Bertinelli. Haha.

I was on a buying spree a couple years ago with old tv series. I bought the Brady Bunch, Bionic Woman, Mork & Mindy, Dukes of Hazard, and a couple others. I’ve yet to watch most of them, but do enjoy reliving those childhood tv shows. One Day at a Time was a good series and for its time spoke strongly to the single mom raising her two kids and the challenges. I tried watching the new remake and I couldn’t get into it. I like this old reflection on the past. Thanks for sharing :)
Of course. It's where Valerie Bertinelli got her start. It was a classic, very timely.

Yes, and even saw a taping of it and met Bonnie Franklin.
Yup. Loved all those old shows. Remember Taxi? And Laverne and Shirley?

@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays Yes, that's another good one that I would stay up late watching as a kid. Thank goodness for Nick At Nite.

Valerie Bertanelli.
Woo!
She's always reminded me of my sister.
It probably played in a time slot of another show you watched.
Musicman · 61-69, M
I watched it every week. I watched those others you mentioned too.

Rose0415 · 36-40, F
@RoxClymer Yeah, but I never really got into it.
updown2020 · 61-69, M

It was very meh

The groovy maintenance man Snider was fairly big in films about 20 years before. Pat Harrington was his name

Hitchcock used him often - usually as a con and ladies man. Occasionally as a hard ass cop
I really loved that show. MacKenzie Phillips (daughter of John Phillips from "The Mamas &The Papas") was the 70s version of Lindsay Lohan in terms of constantly being in trouble. Valerie Bertinelli (who played the younger sister) also had a rock connection, later marrying Eddie Van Halen.
Boy, that takes me back. I was born in 1975, a year after it first came out, but it's one of my earliest TV memories.
I had the biggest crush on Valerie Bertanelli when it was first run, I was just a little kid and she was like the older girl down thq1e street from me.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 Who would have ever dreamed she would marry Eddie Van Halen.
@Musicman And then being the one that Eddie VH into cocaine and alcohol, as well as being the cheater, while Eddie VH was the squeaky clean one going into their marriage.
