Who is your favourite movie star from the 40s and 50s?

In his 35 year career, Robert Taylor said his best movie was 'Waterloo Bridge' with Vivien Leigh, and I have to agree. Gorgeous man.

Robert Taylor was one of my mother's favourites - she saw "Waterloo Bridge" when it was released here in Australia back in 1940.

Hmmm. I wanna say Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, but I don’t know exactly which decades they were big in. I think I’m correct though.

@PinkyPanther yes! I loved that movie as well. Wasn’t that a Hitchcock thriller?
@Ambroseguy80 Yes, and he was always in his own movies. Just a fleeting glimpse, but never spotted him in this one.

@SW-User Doris Day was wonderful, loved her movies, and Elizabeth Taylor.
He was handsome, no question. My favorites were Lena Horne and a lesser-known actor named James Edwards.
They were my heroes, growing up.

@bijouxbroussard I first saw it more than 50 years ago,and I've always liked the 1943 movie "Stormy Weather" with of course Lena Horne,Bill Robinson and the Nicholas Brothers,among others - a great movie with some memorable acts.
Film noir movies are lots of fun. Don’t have a particular favorite actor but Bogie and the Duke are safe bets.

@SW-User Definitely! She has to glue her feet into her shoes to dance with him!
@SW-User Same!
Cheesy stories, but beautiful sets, dancing and her amazing wardrobe.
I loved that era of fashion🤗
Speaking of Robert Taylor, is one of the cleverer tributes…
