No wonder the movie Jaws had a lasting effect on me.

Released in 1975 - I was 13 when I saw it.
To this day I never go in the ocean where I can not see the bottom.
I imagine a shark coming up from the depths and engulfing me.

Never had such a problem. Yet there never was really a shark issue here. Attempted to learned to scuba dive around 15. Couldn't afford to finish the lessons. Dad made an issue of it. Knowing very well how good at swimming I was at the time.😞

Could swim three laps of a medium size pool under water without coming up for air.
