Why do they always have to show the shuriken, blade or throwing knife before the Ninja makes a kill?

I was watching the an old 1980s martial arts movie called Ninja III: The Domination. The Ninja at the beginning kills a lot of people but every time he uses a weapon, the camera always has to zoom in on the weapon. Especially Shurikens (throwing stars). It's just so funny.

They do that too in the anime 'Naruto', which makes you wonder what's the point in that show, since they all have magical powers and those weapons never do squat. I guess its just a Ninja Cliche.

Those 80's martial arts movies were a little over the top.
Those old Sho Kosugi movies! I love those.

I'm a huge fan of Sho Kosugi. My favorite movie of his was Pray For Death.
I honestly do not know.
