Rise of Skywalker - Luke and Rey or Ben and Rey?

I think the only way the final sw movie can go is if either Luke is actually still alive and takes down the first order with Rey, or Ben redeems himself and joins forces with Rey and they take it down together? Any thoughts?

First Order wins, Ben becomes essentially a new emperor. Mirroring the end of the prequel trilogy, a new empire has risen. Stage is set for a new trilogy in which the fledgeling empire is brought to its knees by an external invasion.

@ViciDraco Hmm interesting concept, however they are plugging this thing as the finale. I don't think they will let the dark side win then drop it all like a hot pie.

@Laughman I doubt this will be the final finale, just the end of the trilogy. You may be correct, but it all depends on whether another trilogy is planned.

Rise of Skywalker does not sound like the victory of the good guys, though. It has an ominous tone to me.

@ViciDraco Well I read somewhere that the Jedi term will be replaced with Skywalker as a new type of Jedi which I thought was interesting. Or hopefully Like will come back for a prompt finale!

@Laughman A return of the Je'daii type scenario?

@ViciDraco Sort of,but on a grander scale than what happened in last Jedi. I think we deserve more than 'PowerPoint/Lightpro Luke'.

@Laughman no, no, no. I meant a return of the Je'daii order. It was the precursor to both the Jedi and Sith. An organization that believed that light and dark were to be kept in balance by each adherent. Instead of light vs. dark it was Light and Dark in balance.

"There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no fear; there is power.
I am the heart of the Force.
I am the revealing fire of light.
I am the mystery of darkness
In balance with chaos and harmony,
Immortal in the Force."
―The Je'daii Code

When you mentioned Ben starting a new kind of order, that is what I thought of.

@ViciDraco Ah yes yes. I think I have briefly seen that somewhere and you could be right. Basically a mix between the two. However as mentioned, I think it might be too late to bring in a new concept to these movies. Some people might not follow the whole thing and be left thinking of where the hell this new type of belief came from. Just my thoughts anyway.

@Laughman Disney would introduce it as a new thing, borrowed from the old lore they don't consider canon anymore. They like to borrow and twist a lot. For example, Ben Solo is a bit of a mix between Ben Skywalker and Jacen Solo from legends.

@ViciDraco That's true. I'm not really in with the books etc, but didn't jacen murder Luke's wife, Mara? He was a Jedi but turned to the dark side?
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@Laughman And went on to lead a new empire, yes.

@ViciDraco Did he ever turn back to the light?
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@Laughman Don't think so, killed by his twin sister if I recall.

@ViciDraco Well that will make family BBQs a tad awkward won't it?
