Could a white guy play black panther?
It's a fictional character. I can't see why not.

Would he have the ability to portray the character? Absolutely.
Will Hollywood and the media allow it to happen? Not on your life.
They think absolutely nothing about putting black actors in medieval armor, or in with a group of vikings, or in feudal Japan. And they'll raise more than a little hell if you point out that sometimes, there just were no black people in a particular place at a particular point in history.
So, despite the double standards in casting, yes - a white guy [i]could [/i]play black panther ([b]if[/b] he were cast in the role)

@BerryTheBoo Sometimes they do those "race adaptations" where they change the setting of a story but keep the plot the same, like they did with that Mexican version of James Bond a few years ago. And I think that was super cool. But the trick is, you have to do it for the WHOLE story, you can't just randomly change the race of once character.

@Thevy29 Who cares what skin color somebody has? If somebody is the best person for the job, why is the color of their skin so important? Hiring somebody literally just because they're black is actually very racist. Affirmative action is total bullshit no matter what skin color someone is. Just hire whoever fits the job better.

@midnightsun It does. Dividing peole by race makes no sense and it's not good for kids. So a white person should be able to play black panther and a black person a Nordic god (the latter already happened)

Sure. I personally think whoever's best for the job should play whoever they want, but that's just me. I believe in meritocracy and not just hiring somebody for the color of their skin because that itself is actually very racist.
