Personally I’m more fond of Star Trek. It teaches us about diversity and how to be good global citizens. It’s a way of forward thinking instead of being simply about good versus evil like how it is in star wars. I dont think it does justice to compare both, one is a movie installment giant, the other a television icon. Star Trek has always strived to fit in, it’s always evolving. I can’t say the same about Star Wars which is all day light sabers and box office hits.

the tech in Trek was cooler and better
SW-User
@Deadcutie now that would be much more entertaining than politics every day of the week!
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
@SW-User lol . It is funny to listen to nerds number crunching blaster vs phaser power, and in the end they still resort to name calling

@Deadcutie 😂😂😂👍

Wow... Star Trek over Star Wars... Ok...
SW-User
@Sharon Understood, but I prefer TOS to the other series, though like I said, I do like DS9 a bit, and Enterprise, and of course the movies. Too much political correctness has sneaked into the later Star Trek shows... TOS is a bit more raw.

TOS is a bit more raw.
I find all ST has a strong ethical theme. Consider the TOS bridge crew - Russian Navigator; Japanese Helmsman; BLACK WOMAN Communications Officer; and a complete alien! Capt. Kirk was something of a womaniser but, other than that, I don't see how the more recent spin-offs are more PC. Can you give some examples?
SW-User
@Sharon I totally agree with that, as well as it should be, and I wasn't thinking PC. But newer Star Trek are closer to Hollywood's political and moralistic biases. Off the top of my head... an example:
- in ST NG - there's an episode where they say they don't use money, and poverty has been resolved - most likely through government generated solutions. Not only unlikely, downright destructive and certainly not the American way. There are other examples of a seriously leftist bent on moral issues, or... shall we say, immoral issues.
ST TOS - is frankly much more neutral. Enemies are deterred - they're not appeased (which doesn't work in the real world).
The newer shoes also weaponize diversity. Diversity is a good thing - except when it's the answer to all questions. Even in religion there's nonsense. How about the episode in which an advanced being literally evolves... into a light being. That's not a bit New Agey religion is it? American?-No. Hollywood(y)? Very much so.

Sorry, I'm bi-trek-tual.

Definitely Star Wars !

I love the force on Star Wars. It’s the only reason why I watch it.
On Star Trek, it’s about the scientific wonder in that universe, exploring the unknown.
It’s a hard call, because I really love them both.

It’s okay if you like them though.

We debating the merits of the mechanics of each universe.. (who what technology would win)
Or which movies are better?
Or which movies are better?
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
@Shell federation wins in technology in all aspects except 1, and that will be their down fall.. federation ships are confined to warp, while emperial ships can hyperspace directly to a system. What takes days/weeks to travel in warp only takes hours/days in hyperspace.. federation ships would arrive way to late to a system under emperial attack..
The unknown is planetary shields and defenses. They mention them in shows and the movies, so they do exist.. but can they withstand a planetary bombardment long enough for federation ships to arrive. ? Do star destroyers even have the capability to ever penetrate the shields? It’s mentioned and effectively shown in Star Wars movies that fleets of destroyers are useless at planetary bombardment until the shields have been neutralized...
