Anyone else think the 2nd Godfather is overrated?

And dont understand what all the big fuss is about. I mean its half a foreign film without the boobs all over the place, and some kind of strange war between a 2 foot tall Italian mob boss and a slightly taller Jewish guy.

I like it for the Robert DeNiro part of it. It's a huge epic. The Godfather is my all-time favorite film. Godfather II is also in my top 10. Godfather III wouldn't even be in my top 1000.

@hunkalove I like the first Godfather, the 2nd godfather is eh to me. And I like the message in the third godfather. Which is that you cant be a crook, no matter how clever of a crook, go around killing everyone and expect to come out clean and unpunished. I mean its kind of like in the end of the shield. Oh sure, Vic gets away clean but at what cost.

Saw the first one back in the day and thought very little of it.
There's no point of reference for 'normal' folk.
It's all about one trying to outdo another to gain 'power' and the lengths they'll go to 'sending a message' to any other 'contender for the throne'.
Now at this point, no doubt somebody will jump in and say it's all allegorical and there's a 'deeper message within it'.
Yet any time I've re-watched it over the years I just think the same thing.
These people are assholes !
They say they love family, yet fuck them over constantly.
They marry-because apparently that looks good to heads of families, yet often treat their partners like crap !
Their kids are all brats and ultimately nobody is ever happy !
