Should the Israel/Christian camp be protected/celebrated/supported while the Palenstine/Muslim camp is vilified/banned/proscribed

I think it's disgusting. You can't ban/block/bar/criminalise one side while not doing the same to the other. It's basically becoming a 'religious war' being waged not in the Middle East but in countries/states/parliaments of many other countries including here in Australia.

It's not supposed to be western countries almost pukeworthy promoting/supporting Israel and Jewish people while legislating against the Palestinian people almost to the point where they don't have a right to exist.

How is that ethical? Even my friends who are some Jewish some Palestinian all hate what's going on. Very few of them take 'hate the other side' points of view. Clearly the two people who shot up the Jewish event at Bondi Beach did, but they were neither my friends nor really the sort of people we want in Australia. Most Jewish and most Muslim people are very peaceful and respectful of each others belief systems.

My bf is Jewish - well sort of. His dad is Jewish but his mum not. I only learnt when I got with him that Jewishness is passed down the female line. But he attended synagogue with his dad growing up etc. But as a teenager he drifted away after his mum and dad split up. His Dad is now in his 70s and very religious. But he has a pretty obviously Jewish name, dark hair etc. so clearly his heritage is Jewish.

Anyhoo - he hates what's going on. He hates the pointless destruction and loss of life, he really is against the West Bank settlements etc. This puts him in conflict with some aspects of his family. He's got uncles and cousins in USA and Israel and did make contact through a genealogy site with some distant cousin still in Hungary. He supports a two state solution and just wishes they could all live happily alongside each other.

@KatyO83 "and just wishes they could all live happily alongside each other."

Wouldn't that just be lovely, if we all did that instead of all the hate, the death and misery.

This is the problem with the politicians and not with the common people who want to live in peace. Netanyahu was prosecuted for his misdeeds before the October 7th Hamas attack and is purposely continuing the war just to divert attention of the Israeli people and avoid being jailed.
@sunsporter1649 Actually, the least serious of the cases involves $300,000 in "gifts." What ijit told you those 12 cigars cost $25,000 each???

The distinct problem is no one can tell which Muslim is an extremist and which ones are peaceful ... Bondi Beach represents the ultimate dichotomy of the problem ... the extremist Muslim Father and Son team who perpetrated the cold blooded murder of Jews was in part stopped by a Muslim who bravely and selflessly intervened and disarmed the Son... being struck by bullets from the Father as he did so.. So you have pure EVIL and pure heroism out of the same immigration pool.. Now this said no Jews anywhere are targeting Muslims anywhere for the crime of being Muslims.. This bit of barbarity - the globalizing of the intifada can universally be agreed upon to be abhorrent... Jews behave differently than extremist Muslims do and they do so on a consistent basis where ever they are.... The world has a warped and distorted view of Israels legitimate response to Hamas terrorists and a sad fact of this is that Hamas holds the majority of Gazan civilians hostage as human shields to protect the militants.. The problem is that the extremists hold veto power over the majority who wish to live in peace.. When nations open up immigration to Muslims - you never know what you are going to get... Mostly good peaceful people with a tiny minority of barbarians tossed into the mix.. This leads to hate crimes in Australia, the UK, France, Canada and yes the USA as well.. The problem is separating the extremists out from the peaceful (and even heroic) Majority... In Israel the most likely outcome will be some level of authority over the majority where over time the extremists must be separated and expelled on a permanent basis.. In the case of all other nations - monitoring of the majority including in schools and religious gatherings must take place to do the same thing.. keep the majority and expel the minority extremists.. There MUST be standards applied and consequences for extremism...

Well said and put. Someone had guts and courage to speak.

Of course not, but there's an idea that Israel represents the "West" whereas Palestine represents the "East", making the former more sympathetic. The association is not entirely untrue, since Israel was largely settled by European immigrants. But this leads to a glossing over of Israel's brutality and the reality of its history of displacing and killing Palestinians (while Palestinians are all labeled "terrorists" and are often denigrated for their "fanatical" religion, when much of what Israel does is justified by religion as well).

In either case, Western nations like the US and UK have a vested interest in Israel, so the "powers that be" in these countries are always going to amplify Israel and downplay Palestine, especially when it comes to the discourse surrounding them.

Ethics has nothing to do with religion..Ethics regards the physical harm to any people as equally wrong. The nature of religion says that my god is better than your god and therefore I deserve more and you dont.. Religion as it is practised is unethical..😷

We have the Isreali president currently making a state visit to Australia. Kinda sends a strange message that Australia outwardly supports the Jewish cause but is trying to suppress the Palestinian one.

@butterflybaby75 there is nothing wrong in supporting innocent people.Whether jews or whoever, i will stand by a jewish friend and fight for then and even take bullet to protect them. I have many jewish freinds. Love them.

People might have a much more moderate opinion of the cause if they stopped burning babies. Just saying!

Christians and Jews shouldn't be vilified, but the Israel government should be.
