This is a reasonable request , right?

I was rear ended in December 2024 and got a pretty acute form of whiplash. My car was total loss and I've been going to a chiropractor for the pain. I also get very hypervgilant in a car at a red light, thinking someone will rear end me. My lawyer said if I want to include it in my claim I need to have my therapist write a bit about my fear, to prove in claim. I've even had two bad dreams about being hit again.
I asked her to possibly help me , that I experience PTSD when at a red light, and she was very reluctant to say she'd help. She said "That's hard to prove, and just focus on physical aspects. " Then changed the subject essentially. I was really quite in a slight daze wondering why they couldn't help me when I've talked about my fears of the accident several times? Is it a huge process for a therapist to provide information for a client in a collision? 🤔

To be honest its normal to feel jumpy, apprehensive and fearful for quite a while after an accident.
I had one once, and it was hard to get back in the car, it made me feel sick every time. It eventally fades, it just takes time and repetitive exposure.

@NOS4R2 That makes sense, thanks 🍀 I'm unsure if I will add hypervgilance now or not but it's Def there at red light most...and I'll yell out Stop!!! Because often it looks like they're not going to stop. This is an aspect of the accident I didn't deal with before getting in the collision, so it would be a valid part but if they are not willing to write something I'll have to see my options in the process at that point. Ty for your tips

Im pretty sure we've talked about this... The only way to convince them is to show them. Next tiime you see your therapist, explain how you seemed to have gotten every red light on the way to see them and act really jumpy... Look behind you alot and every sound you hear sounds like tires screeching...

🤷‍♂😑

@SledgeHammer Is that really the only way a therapist would believe you or provide something for you? I do believe they simply don't want to deal with it, because they downplayed my regular everyday PTSD prior to this, saying I talked normal, so I probably wouldn't get disability. 😦

Get a medical doctor to give you a CBD prescription for your PTSD

Change the therapist. And call out her (the one who refused) name in social forums.

People like that really fry my cookies! 😡😡😡 I would consider getting a new therapist.

@Musicman She minimized my PTSD in general too prior to this. But other days has offered a glimpse of affirmation...that's hard to come by as most only nod. But to just flat out not provide any aid with this makes me feel pretty low.

@Musicman I'll ask again soon and hope they can provide even a small excerpt.. ty Music

@Baybreeze I would seriously consider replacing her.
