how do you handle noise? i can't stand it

i live in a reletively quiet apartment block, but outside in my surrounding area it does get noisy at times - people revving their cars and speeding out of the street, workmen drilling and banging....young mothers screaming and talking noisily so the entire street can hear.....dogs barking, people making banging noises in the apartment block.....loud music that i don't like ( rap music).

i'm just a guy who likes peace and quiet, i have a nervous disposition and noise disrupts my nerves and makes my nerves bad.

i can't move because ive been here 20 years now and are settled, plus i wouldn't want to move as i live in a pretty ok area compared to some areas in the city i live in.

I grew up 2 blocks from a trading port. Trains, trucks and conveyor machinery running most days. Not to mention the Pub was on the corner. And drunks would camp in the park across the road... I got used to the noise.
