I've been through that, the longer you are with the person the more empathetic and caring you become, while understanding their reactions in a way becomes more difficult. How long have you been with your girlfriend?

@SW-User Just over a year. Still a lot to understand and that is what I am working on. I am actually seeing a therapist to better understand. She is almost 30 years old and to see that she is still affected by something that happend years ago is tough.
